Kamadhenu, whose name comes from the Sanskrit "Kamaduha" meaning "the cow of plenty" or "the one through whom all desires are fulfilled," is a revered figure in Hindu mythology. Each part of Kamadhenu is believed to embody a particular deity, and she is worshipped as the divine wish-fulfilling cow. According to legend, Kamadhenu resides in heaven (Swargalok) and emerged from the ocean of milk (Kshira Sagar) during the Samudra Manthan, the great churning of the ocean by gods and demons.
Kamadhenu was presented to the seven sages by the gods and eventually came into the possession of Sage Vasishta. Like the Kalpavriksha (the heavenly wish-fulfilling tree), Kamadhenu is believed to grant the wishes of those who approach her with devotion. She is also known as Surabhi, Nanda, Sunanda, Susheela, and Sumana, and is regarded as the mother of all cows, symbolizing abundance, prosperity, and nurturing.
Kamadhenu is worshipped for bestowing health, wealth, happiness, and spiritual growth upon her devotees.
